Two schools projects designed by Bournville Architects worth a total of £3m have recently been completed in Birmingham, providing much needed additional sports halls for inner city schools at Bordesley and Selly Park.
At Bordesley Green Girls’ Specialist Business & Enterprise School, the £1.9m project involved a 4 court sports hall, classrooms and Business Enterprise Centre while the £1.3m project at Selly Park Technology College for Girls, the number one school in the country for progress between Key Stage 2 and GCSE level, was for a 4 court sports hall and multi purpose room for School and community use.
Both were funded through the BIG Lottery Fund under the New Opportunities for PE and Sport programme, the joint Client in each case being the School and Birmingham City Council.
Mike Miskella of Selly Park was delighted with the project “we have been working with Bournville Architects over the last 15 years, they have provided us with a First Class service throughout .“
Bournville Architects acted as both Architect, Lead Consultant and Planning Supervisor for the two projects with the successful Design Team including DBK Back, RW Gregory LLP and Baynham Meikle working alongside Greswolde Construction on both schemes.
Bournville Architects Director Colin Wright said that “ I am delighted that our expertise in education has been recognized by these two projects, particularly as Selly Park is an existing client located right by our Bournville office and Bordesley Green is close to Bournville Village Trust’s Bordesley Village Centre.
Our current schemes on site include new build sports halls at Turves Green and Dame Elizabeth Cadbury School, with further projects in the pipeline “
